In Tulamati village of Kamrup, Assam, a young mother-to-be named Garima Kalita was doing everything she could to ensure a safe pregnancy. But with the nearest health center almost 5 km away and barely any public transport, regular antenatal check-ups felt out of reach. Our Sanjeevani Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) became her lifeline, a familiar service point she looked forward to every month.
During a routine screening, the team found her haemoglobin at 8.9 g/dL, indicating moderate anaemia. She hadn’t completed her Iron and Folic Acid course, so the nurses provided counselling, diet guidance, and a fresh supply of IFA tablets, monitoring her progress with regular visits.
As her delivery date drew closer, the MMU team visited her home to monitor her progress. In June 2025, Garima welcomed a healthy baby girl weighing 3.1 kg at the nearby First Referral Unit. The joy in the family was unforgettable. Her husband shared his gratitude for the Sanjeevani team, whose steady presence, follow-up, and doorstep care turned fear into relief and uncertainty into hope.
